Little Ducklings Nursery Illness, reporting and recording notifiable diseases …….. will ensure that children and their families will be offered a safe and stimulating environment within which children can have fun, be happy and flourish. It is understood that from time to time children suffer from infectious illnesses. We will ensure staff take positive steps to minimise the spread of infection. Should a child become ill in our care we will notify parents/carers or any other adult designated by the parent to request the collection of their child. Until the child is collected staff will ensure the child is kept as comfortable as possible. In line with the Statutory Framework for Early Years Foundation Stage we will discuss with parents the procedure to be followed should their child become ill or infectious. Without breaching confidentiality parents/carer will be informed if there is an infectious disease which may affect their children or their families. Infectious diseases: Chicken pox German measles (Rubella) Measles Mumps It is also important for staff to be informed if any child has been in contact with a case of infectious diarrhoea e.g. Salmonella, Rotavirus and Hepatitis. If we have reason to believe that any child is suffering from a notifiable disease identified as such in the Public Health (Infectious Diseases) Regulations 1988, we will inform Ofsted and take advice from the health Protection Agency regarding any actions to be taken. We will inform Ofsted of any action taken. Little Ducklings Nursery
