Constellations of the Zodiac: A PowerPoint Presentation Mr. Hiott This project is worth TWO test grades. Each group will do two complete presentations on two constellations worth one test grade each. Make sure you cover all the assigned topics to get full credit. You must have a minimum of 10 slides in each presentation, including the Title and the Bibliography slides. You must also have a minimum of 8 pictures/graphics/clip art. The following topics must be addressed, and are worth 10 points each: 1. Name of Constellation. Show a picture of the symbol, actual or simulation, that shows stars. 2. Where does the constellation appear in the sky and when (time of year)? 3. Number of major stars, range of magnitude, range of luminosity, how far away, etc. You can cut and paste a table here. 4. Names of main stars and some info about them. (see #3) 5. Other objects found in constellation. Asterisms such as big dipper, seven sisters, any globular clusters, galaxies, nebulae, etc. 6. Mythology story behind constellation, if applicable. Tell us the juicy story, and make it interesting! Show picture of person, animal here. 7. Astrology connected with this sun sign. Info about personality traits associated with this sign, and what signs it is compatible with. This part should be fun, so have fun with it! 8. Bibliography. List the websites you used. You can cut and paste these to a Word doc or to your presentation and put together at end. Also, you must cut and paste website source of any pictures and place in or under pictures in presentation, in very small font. The presentation portion is worth 15 points. Be prepared for what you have to say. Make notes and use them; speak clearly. I will deduct points if you just read the screen. All team members must present…you may want to do every other slide or some variation to ensure this. You will write 3 multiple choice questions about your presentation, which will be used to construct a test on the zodiac constellations. The questions should be fairly general; not picky details. This is worth 5 points. Write questions in Word format and send to my drop box with both PowerPoint presentations. Remember, you must have 10 slides. 5 point deduction for each slide short of 10. You must also have 8 pictures/graphics minimum. 5 points will be deducted for every one short of 8. You can find links to websites on my LMS course page. You are not limited to these, but there are some good ones. A Google search will reveal others. Refer to rubric to make sure you have your bases covered.
