Biogas By Harrison White How Biogas Works Waste is digested by bacteria. We call this ‘fermentation’. If you use sewage, manure or waste from your garden you get methane and carbon dioxide but if you use wood you get ‘wood gas’, which is nitrogen, hydrogen, carbon monoxide and a little methane. Sewage Sewage can generate alot methane. This gas can be used to power vehicles. Sewage can be used at home instead of methane gas that is normally piped. Rubbish Tips Rubbish tips decomposes and produces methane gas. Methane is a worst green house gas than carbon dioxide. The gas can be captured and used in homes and businesses.
