Algebra 1 A/B
Length: 4 semesters
Prerequisite: None
Grade Level: 9th - 10th
Elective Class
This is a two year math course that takes all the concepts of Algebra 1 and teaches them over the
course of 2 years. The concept of algebra is introduced with the use of variables and equations.
Topics discussed are solving equations, polynomials factoring, algebraic fractions, linear
equations, systems of linear equations, functions, inequalities, radicals, and application problems.
Problem solving is used throughout the course.
Applied Geometry
Length: 2 semesters
Prerequisite: Algebra 1B
Grade Level: 9th - 11th
Elective Class
Description: Geometrical concepts and reasoning skills are taught. Logical thinking skills and
problem solving is expanded upon. Topics discussed are Euclidean geometry, triangles,
congruence, similarity, polygons, parallels, right triangles, circles, areas, and volumes.

triangle/quadrilateral proofs.
Algebra 2
Length: 2 semesters
Prerequisite: Geometry
Grade Level: 9th - 12th
Elective Class
Description: Algebraic concepts are expanded upon from Algebra I as well as an introduction to
Trigonometry. The class starts with a review of Algebra I skills. Topics covered are real number
properties, equations, inequalities, polynomial equations and inequalities, functions, quadratic
equations, studying parabolas, systems of equations, irrational and complex numbers,
exponential and logarithmic functions.
Pre-Calculus
Length: 2 semesters
Prerequisite: Algebra II
Grade Level: 10th - 12th
Elective Class
Description: This class is designed for college bound students who will probably take calculus
in college. Topics covered are coordinate geometry, polynomials, inequalities, functions,
exponents and logarithms, trigonometric functions, triangle trigonometry, and an introduction to
calculus. A TI-84 plus graphing calculator is highly recommended.
Statistics
Length: 2 semesters
Prerequisite: Algebra II
Grade Level: 10th - 12th
Elective Class
Description: This is an introduction to statistics and statistical analysis. In addition to statistics,
probability will also be covered. The class starts with introducing the basics of data collection
and samples of data. From this data, we will look at descriptive statistics as well as
characterizing the data’s distribution. Next, random variables are examined as well as
distributions of random variables. These ideas are applied by looking at normal and binomial
distributions. Real world scenarios are presented throughout the course and provide insight into
where these practices are used outside of the classroom. Once the basics are covered, statistical
inference and hypothesis testing are used to draw conclusions about populations associated with
a sample.
