MINUTES FROM PATIENT PARTICIPATIENT GROUP 22nd FEBRUARY 2017 PRESENT GEOFF R, GEMMA KIRKWOOD, JOHN I, SUE I, DIANA P, DR CROWE, NEVILLE O, DENNIS B, SARAH G, OLECH K, PATRICK S, ANGELA C. 1. Apologies-Hilary R, Ilona P, Mary R, John R, Dora K 2. Minutes of November 22nd 2016 agreed. 3. Pharmacy Update-Sarah Green, manager of the Well Pharmacy was introduced to the group. She took on the role in July 2016, with the aim of improving customer service. An alteration to staff rotas has enabled more staff to be available at the counter. Waiting times for medications have reduced. It would be exceptional for anyone to wait up to 20 minutes. More time has been created for the Pharmacist to review medications with patients and give advice to them. All electronic prescriptions that are received are prepared in advance to be collected by patients. It was suggested that the queuing system in the pharmacy could clarified and improved. A general improvement at the Pharmacy was acknowledged by the group. A Fax/phone line has been made available to the surgery for doctors to contact the Pharmacy. Selective and targeted use of electronic repeat prescription dispensing is being looked at by the surgery for patients who take stable regular established medications. Patients are being identified for whom, this would be appropriate. 4. Dr Crowe thanked the group for its support and feedback during the CQC Inspection. Overall the surgery was judged to be good, and outstanding with the elderly. Mention was made of Dr Kinra and Dr Chinta’s involvement with Acorn House and Peacemills. 5. DNA rates-Trialling record of same day non attendees update-Rates have remained largely unchanged. A polite generic letter that will be sent to DNA’s was read. The group generally thought that a follow up letter, if necessary would, need to sound firmer. 6. Carers- Dr Kinra and Gemma will be attending a Carers Federation meeting in March to see how carers can be given extra support. 7. Primary Care Offer-Dr Crowe explained how the surgery qualifies for funding for its capacity to provide the required range of extra services, including in house phlebotomy, domiciliary phlebotomy , ear syringing, paediatric services and treatment room services. 8. A Facebook for HRMC is now up and running. 9. AOB’s. Concern was expressed at the difficulties in accessing podiatry services, particularly at the Top Valley Health Point. Physio assessment services at the HRMC surgery are to end in March. The Practice had the fifth (out of 50) best take up of the flu vaccine. 10. Date of next meeting-Wednesday 24th May.
