Working primarily remote and off-site for 2.5 years, provided primary senior DB2 DBA application and
infrastructure support at CIGNA, a Connecticut based global health insurance company. Performed a top to
bottom database and application infrastructure stability and performance review. The result was detailed database
and infrastructure recommendations which when implemented, significantly improved production application
stability and performance. Recommendations included: buffer pool resizing, transaction log placement, object to

database environment and configuration review and project technical assessment for a large, multi-vendor
billing and ratings application development effort.
Senior DB2 z/OS and DB2 UDB (LUW) Technical Specialist & Team Lead (July 2006 – Oct 2009)
At the Florida Department of Children and Families (DCF), performed lead z/OS and LUW DB2 DBA activities
in support of the successful implementation of FSFN, a large scale, 7000+ user, state-wide child protection
system which was a complete replacement of the existing HSN legacy system. Created new DB2 V8.1 database
environments. Converted data structures from the Oracle based transfer application data structures. Defined all
naming standards, configured, maintained and monitored a large complex DB2 database environment residing
on multiple mainframe (z/OS) and distributed (LUW) platforms. Performed extensive application tuning and
stress testing activities using IBM DB2 Administration tool, TMON/DB2, Query Monitor and Thread Expert.

Yankee Gas Customer Service performance tuning and client cost saving
At a large gas distribution company performed DB2 performance tuning on IBM’s DB2/CICS Customer Service
application (CCIS) which resulted in a 50 percent reduction in overall CPU usage and a 50 percent reduction in
end user response time and an almost total elimination of -911 contention ABENDs. An added benefit was a
savings of over 1.5 million dollars to NU for refunds of license fees and outsourcing contract termination fee.
Passport 9.03 upgrade and data filter/conversion project
Was lead DB2 DBA on upgrade to Passport V9.03. Responsible for setting up, testing and running conversion
and data filter jobs (operation, performance and configuration). Responsible for on-line transaction and batch
performance tuning. Performed extensive performance analysis, stress testing and tuning. Created and maintained
training regions. Performed data refreshes and many other project related activities in support of this highly
successful and under-budget project.
