You can use ONLY your Mesopotamian Map and one other sheet on the test.
1) Religion –
- Know the different kinds of religion that where practiced in
Mesopotamia; 1 God vs Many gods
- Gilgamesh, Ishtar, Enlil, the Hebrews’ God
- temple of the Mesopotamians
- name of the Hebrew bible
2) Technology, Math, Science
- Know the inventions of the Mesopotamians, how they were made, and else what those
inventions eventually gave us
- Know the number system of the Mesopotamians. How did they write numbers? What number
systems do we have today, that came from the Mesopotamians? How did they count to 60?
- Know characteristics of the written language of the Mesopotamians and what made the
Phoenician alphabet different
- water control, buildings, structures, walls
- what are phonemes?
3) Cause and Effect
- Know what a cause is, and what an effect is.
- Be able to give cause and effect examples from ancient Mesopotamia.
4) Region and Landforms
- Know the nicknames given to the region of Mesopotamia, and why those names where given
- Know the names of landforms, and waterways in Mesopotamia
5) Laws
- Be able to explain the characteristics of the Code of Laws
- Who wrote them? Where? Why were they important? Were they the first laws?
- The Hebrew laws were called the?
6) Groups of People
- Know the characteristics and traits of the main groups of people from Mesopotamia
- Assyrians, Akkadians, Sumerians, Babylonians, Hebrews, Phoenicians
7) Individuals
- Be able to identify and explain the contributions of individuals from Mesopotamia
- Sargon, Hammurabi, Gilgamesh, Abraham, David, Solomon, Moses, Nebuchadnezzar, etc
8) Vocab
- most vocab is fair game
- what we talked about in class is most important
- any other term that you were to read is also important, but not nearly as important
