Eligibility
Desired: A post-graduate qualification in a related field
e.g. data mining/computer science.
Minimum experience required: Demonstrated
experience in conducting complex analysis/research with
high volumes of data.
The successful applicant will be required to undergo a
security assessment, maintain an ongoing security
clearance and satisfy AUSTRAC’s pre-engagement
checks.
To be eligible for assessment, applicants must be an
Australian citizen.

2. a covering letter, no longer than one page, that states why you are interested in the

Job Description/Responsibilities
Under limited direction the Senior Data Analyst is responsible for:

Acquiring financial and other relevant types of data from primary and secondary data
sources, including internal data warehouses, other government agencies, open
source and in collaboration with the private sector.

Interpreting data, analysing results using statistical, data mining techniques to provide
insight into current and emerging money laundering and terrorism financing threats.

Working collaboratively with Data Mining Analysts, the Innovation & Technology
branch, internal & external clients to identify opportunities to disrupt financial crime
through the analysis of data by interpreting trends or patterns in complex data sets
with the purpose of understanding or making conclusions from the data for decision
making purposes.

Presenting data clearly in infographics, charts, graphs and tables for technical and
non-technical audiences.

Leading the development of new and innovative financial transaction reports analysis.

Providing coaching and mentoring to other staff as required

Cultivating and maintaining key relationships with internal and external parties and
representing AUSTRAC at relevant forums

Taking personal responsibility for meeting objectives and progressing tasks, including
in difficult circumstances

Being an active team participant and committing energy and drive to achieving team
goals

Other relevant duties as required.
