The Harmony staff provides the full spectrum of care for women, ranging from well-women care and obstetrics to complex medical
and surgical management of gynecological disorders. We are fortunate to have providers whose expertise and training in obstetrics and
gynecology is matched by their compassion for women and dedication to their patients. Regardless of your needs, the providers and staff at
Harmony, Center for Women’s Health and Vitality, make you our number one priority. Our office is available to you by phone from 8 a.m.
- 5 p.m. Monday - Friday.
Dr. Susan Almquist is a board certified obstetrician and gynecologist. She received her bachelor of science from the University of Florida
in Gainesville, Florida and earned a doctor of medicine degree from the Marshall University School of Medicine in Huntington, West
Virginia. She completed her residency at the University of Cincinnati in Cincinnati, Ohio. She and her husband, Joel, are excited to be
living in Boone and all the outdoor adventures that surround them.
Dr. Camile Andrews received her medical degree from Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences in May 2005. She completed
her Obstetrics and Gynecology internship and residency in Johnson City, Tenn. at Quillen College of Medicine June 2010. Dr. Andrews is
also a trained Osteopathic physician, which allows her to incorporate spinal evaluation and musculoskeletal treatment into her practice.
Dr. Lynda Gioia-Flynt is a board certified Obstetrician and Gynecologist. She completed both her undergraduate and medical degrees
from Wake Forest University. She completed residency at State University of NY in Stony Brook where she was an administrative Chief
Resident. Subsequently, she was an Assistant Professor and ultimately GYN Division Director at University of Tennessee in Memphis, TN.
She is happy to move back to North Carolina with her husband and two children to practice in Boone.
Dr. Cecilia Grasinger is board certified in Obstetrics & Gynecology. She completed her undergraduate training at the University of
Oklahoma and medical training at the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine. Dr. Grasinger is a Diplomat for the American College
of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and the National Board of Medical Examiners. She is well known and respected in the High Country,
as she has practiced here since 1999.
Dr. Beverly Womack, a board certified gynecologist, graduated summa cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa, with a B.S. degree in Microbiology
from the University of Georgia. She completed medical school and residency at Medical College of Georgia, serving as the chief
administrative resident in 2001. Dr. Womack moved to Boone from Americus, Georgia in 2009 with her husband and two busy boys.
April Greene, DNP, CNM is a board Certified Nurse Midwife. She graduated with her Doctor of Nursing Practice degree from Kentucky.
She graduated summa cum laude from Lees McRae College in Banner Elk with her undergraduate degree in nursing science. She was
inducted into Alpha Chi, Sigma Theta Tau International and other Honor Societies. April studied midwifery and obtained her Master’s
Degree in science at Frontier Nursing University in Hyden, Kentucky. Prior joining Harmony, she worked for 15 years as a labor and
delivery nurse at Watauga Medical Center. April is delighted to be a part of Harmony and honored to serve the women and families of
Watauga and surrounding counties.
Nancy Griffith, FNP, CNM is a family nurse practitioner and a certified nurse midwife. She has lived in the mountains of Avery County
since 1993 and enjoys providing healthcare to families in our community. Nancy has a diploma in nursing from Mercy School of Nursing
in Charlotte, a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from UNC Charlotte, a Master’s Degree in Nursing from UNC Chapel Hill and a PostMaster’s Certificate in midwifery from Frontier School of Midwifery and Family Nursing. She is married to Reo Griffith and they have two
children Abigail and Robert Benjamin.
Heather Jordan, CNM is a 2002 graduate of East Carolina University School of Nursing in Greenville, NC with a Masters of Science in
Nursing with a concentration in Nurse Midwifery. Her undergraduate degrees include Bachelor of Science in Nursing from University
of Washington and Bachelor of Arts in Cultural Anthropology from Davidson College. She is board certified in American Midwifery
Certification Board and American College of Nurse Midwives.
Carrington Pertalion, CNM is a Certified Nurse Midwife, Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner. She graduated from Frontier School of
Midwifery & Family Nursing in 2002. A board certified member of the American College of Nurse Midwives, she has been practicing in
Boone since 2002 and joined Harmony in May 2009. Carrington is thrilled to be providing nurse midwifery services at Watauga Medical
Center and ARMA and applauds these organizations for recognizing the need for nurse midwives to offer full service care to our families
in the High Country.
This new patient information packet includes directions to our office and contact information for you to keep for
your records. The terms of our financial agreement and notice of privacy practices are available in our office.
Additionally, we’ve enclosed forms you will need to complete and bring with you to your first visit.
