Will you ride the smooth or wild spiral in 2016’s year of change?
In this essay, we will explore the major astrological trends of
2016, with a focus on mapping the year for your Sun and Rising
Signs.
Two of the cosmic cycles which all of us feel in acute and tangible
ways in our lives include Mercury Retrogrades and Eclipses.
MERCURY RETROGRADE IN
EARTH SIGNS
Root chakra issues consistently confront us with an abundance

ECLIPSES
2016 marks one of the more unique years where we have five
instead of four eclipses, suggesting a more powerful year of
change and evolution for all of us with ripples felt throughout the
collective, primarily since the final two signs of the zodiac Pisces
and Aquarius are eclipsed three times.
Notice where the degrees of these eclipses land in your personal

These points will experience catalytic change and pronounced

ROLLER COASTER OR MERRY-GOROUND: THE MUTABLE T-SQUARE
The most important aspect of 2016 to consider is the Mutable
T-Square between Jupiter in Virgo, Saturn in Sagittarius, and
Neptune in Pisces. Although the T-Square is never quite exact
this year, its various aspects will closely connect and act as the
spinning umbrella under which we will all twirl in the year of
change ahead. For Mutable signs are the wild cards, the shapeshifters of the zodiac. Marked by their malleable nature, these

allow ourselves to mold into them. The key to success in 2016
is to embrace impermanence and to avoid the attachments and
disappointments that arise with expectations. The T-Square
challenges us to integrate disparate elements and the masters of
mutability will allow the flow to guide them where Spirit wills in
the year ahead. We cannot allow ourselves to suffer frustration
as apparent realities evaporate before our eyes, for this process
will fuel both the imagination and the heart of the philosopherpoet—the archetype which carries the torch in 2016. What do
