Each Bullet-Point Needs To:
• Begin with a Strong Action Verb.
• Specifically describe the duty or responsibility.
• Showcase the result or magnitude of the duty/responsibility.
Bullet Point Construction
Action Verb à Duty/Responsibility à Impact/Results & Scale or Magnitude
Action Verbs
Action Verbs should start every bullet-point. They should be impressive and tell the reader more about your
duties & responsibilities. Action Verbs should place you in the center!
Strong Action Verbs:
Managed or Supervised
Spearheaded or Led
Coordinated or Organized
Created or Crafted
Implemented
Orchestrated
Maintained
Constructed
Duties/Responsibilities
Specifically tell the reader what you did at work!
Do not write about what the organization does – describe your responsibilities, skills you developed & your
achievements.

Impact/Results & Scale/Magnitude
Try to include the results and/or scale of your duties if you can.
Adding this information adds context to the bullets – it makes the reader understand more about you.
Example of Constructing a Bullet Point
Action Verb: Created and implemented
Duty/Responsibility: Created and Implemented dozens of English Second-Language lesson plans
Results/Magnitude: Created and Implemented dozens of English Second Language lesson plans resulting in
20% increase in average classroom grades.
Examples of Bullet Points
Planned and executed ten marketing campaigns for Korean Student Exchange programs increasing annual
enrollment by 30 percent.
Developed and implemented dozens of lesson plans for elementary school literacy programs resulting in an
average increase of two letter grades by the end of the year among students.
