The Dynastic Cycle
The Dynastic Cycle is a term historians use to describe the rise, fall, and replacement of
dynasties or empires in China. These cycles were repeated many times from the time of the
Zhou Dynasty until the early 1900s—in other words for nearly 3000 years!
Directions:
Use what you learned about the Dynastic Cycle to put the following events of the
Strobel Dynasty in correct order. Write the letter of each event in one of the boxes
below. Work on your own first. Then check your work with a partner.
Events:
A. A handful of Ms. Strobel’s students complain about her corrupt rule and start skipping class!
LHS floods! The power goes out! There is no heat in her classroom! Clearly the spirit of the
Minuteman is unhappy with Ms. Strobel.
B. A new teacher arrives in 178. A few students start to do their homework again.
C. Ms. Strobel establishes a classroom of harmony, fairness, and equity. Students get along with
each other and produce amazing analytical essays. Ms. Strobel has the approval of the spirit of
the LHS Minuteman!
D. Ms. Strobel’s grading policies take a turn for the worse. She accepts bribes from students for
A’s, gives poor grades to well-argued essays, and falls asleep during class.
E. The new World History teacher grades students fairly, is loved and respected by students. The
classroom is neither too hot nor too cold. The Minuteman smiles down upon the new teacher.
F. Large numbers of students refuse to do their homework or even to come to class. They take
over Ms. Lasa’s office, complaining that Ms. Strobel is unfair and a poor teacher.
