PLOTTING THE FACTS: CHAPTER 11, 12 and 13
TIMELINE Challenge
Activity: In the groups of 3-4, you are to each create a little booklet; on one side an area for key terms,
on the other, a mini timeline with the events that I have given to you. These events are scrambled so it
is your job as a group to look through Chapters 11-13 in your textbook and plot the order of each of
these terms.
Please complete the timeline in the following manner:
- Each one of you (although you are working in a group) is to create your own terms sheet and
timeline. This will be your graphic organizer for these chapters, as I won’t be putting a
PowerPoint up on the website for these chapters 
- The pieces of paper with the terms on them that I have given you with the terms on them are for
reference, you need to re-write them onto your own timelines
- Under each of the terms for the timeline you need to do the following:
1. Write down the term on the timeline with the date it was established
2. Explain the term in point form
3. Explain its significance in the history of Economic Globalization
o Ex. The Gold Standard (1960-1970) – All countries agreed on a fixed exchange rate
within their own countries, and within trade. Significance? This would reduce
inflation and the countries debt that had accumulated during WWI
- For the terms for definition, you MUST write them in your own words, I will be walking
around checking them.
You will have a couple of blocks to complete this as a group, after which we will create a master
timeline and definitions sheet collectively as a class. This will be done to make sure that you got the
order right and to add any points to each of your timelines/definition sheets if needed.
Happy Plotting!
