Choose at least one of the assignments.
You can include information from:
The Rock Cycle
Weathering
Plate Tectonics
Students who are in need of more credit may do more than one assignment.
All work is expected to be in a final form and of very high quality.
1. Research a scientist who contributed to the plate tectonic theory or is involved in volcanoes
or earthquakes. Write a story about them. Include background information and

information from all 3 sections of Earth Science.)
3. Create a game. (At least 15 questions and a related game board and make sure to include
information from all 3 sections of Earth Science.)
4. Research a major earthquake or volcano and make a diary of that experience as if you were
there. Make sure to include the location, type of disaster, destruction, deaths, and use your
5 senses. (At least 4 paragraphs.)
5. Create a timeline of the development of seismology. Use pictures and creativity.
6. Write a paper that would discuss what the earth would be like if we didn’t have plate
tectonics. (At least 4 paragraphs.)
7. Draw cartoons that use humor to explain the plate tectonics/weathering/rock cycle. (At
least 6 frames, colored, and neat.)
8. Research the volcanic or earthquake history of Maryland and display your information in a
creative way.
9. Create a mural or collage of plate tectonic topics or weathering/rock cycle topics. Include a
1-2 paragraph explanation (or captions for each picture).
10.Create a book about plate tectonics/weathering/rock cycle with creativity, pictures, and story line.
