Large building application (100 - 1000 kW)*
Centralised architecture
A centralised system routes DC power
generated by the solar panels through
a single inverter. It’s a good choice if all
of your solar panels and generators are
of the same make or share the same
technical characteristics.
One advantage of a centralised architecture
is that it’s easier to install, with less AC
cabling involved. Also, because all the solar
energy produced by the system moves
through a single inverter or PV box,
monitoring is less complicated and the
overall reliability of the system may be higher.

Large building application (100 - 1000 kW)*
Decentralised architecture
A decentralised system routes DC power generated by the solar
panels through more than one inverter. This architecture may
be the best choice for PV systems which incorporate panels of
different brands or technical characteristics, or use mismatched
generators. Having more than one inverter lets you operate
different equipment at optimal levels.
Maintenance of a decentralised system is simpler and more cost
efficient because you can take a single inverter offline without
shutting down the entire system. Decentralisation can be more
suitable for sites with space or access limitations – installing
several smaller inverters may be easier and less expensive than
installing one large, hard-to-maneuver inverter.

Off-grid, Grid-interactive, and Backup Power Applications
Grid-interactive and backup power
The Schneider Electric Conext™ XW
System* is the ideal solution for gridinteractive and off-grid single-phase, splitphase, and three-phase applications. Most
applications use solar arrays, but a wind
generator, micro-hydro generator, and/or
a fuel generator can also be incorporated
into the system.
The grid interactive functionality allows
excess energy that is generated to be
exported to the grid, and allows the grid
to act as an additional energy source
to charge the system’s batteries. Gridconnected homes can also benefit from
the use of a Schneider Electric Conext XW
System as the inverter will automatically
detect a grid failure and instantly switch to
backup power stored in the battery bank.
When the grid is active, the XW System
will monitor and regulate battery charging
to ensure the batteries are ready to supply
backup power when the grid fails.

Off-grid power
The Schneider Electric Conext XW System
can process multiple forms of incoming
power, making it a popular choice for
off-grid applications (those not connected
to the grid), as it provides homes with
