Dear NAME OF COMPOSER:
This letter, when signed by you (the “Composer”), will confirm our mutual agreement whereby
NAME OF PRODUCTION COMPANY, (the “Producer”) has engaged you as an employee for
hire to render certain services and to furnish a complete and original musical score (the “Work”)
for the Motion Picture currently titled NAME OF FILM (the “Picture”).
Producer agrees to pay Composer as full compensation for all services required of him/her in
connection with the Picture and for all the rights granted by the Composer, upon condition that
the Composer shall fully and faithfully perform all the services required of him hereunder, the
sum of three thousand U.S. dollars ($10,000) and other valuable consideration including one
DVD copy of the Picture with musical score. Producer agrees to arrange and cover Composer’s
flight and lodging for Composer’s trip to Producer’s location for the purpose of recording score.
Upon completion of the Work by Composer, Producer will grant to Composer the “Composer”
and/or “Music by” single-card credit in the opening credits of the Picture, along with equivalent
credit in the closing credits.
The Work shall not be deemed complete until both Producer and Composer have mutually agreed
upon its completion.
Composer grants to Producer the irrevocable, perpetual, worldwide right to use and to authorize
others to use the Work in conjunction with the Picture on any medium whether now known or yet
to be devised for any distribution, broadcast, exhibition, display, or retail including but not
limited to network television, pay television, cable and satellite television, theatrical distribution
and/or exhibition, film festivals, exhibition on board aircraft and/or ship at sea, video cassette,
video disc, and/or internet exhibition and/or broadcast and/or distribution, also including the
resale, distribution, and exhibition of the original soundtrack and score. Composer agrees that
there is no time limit or geographic condition on the rights hereby granted.
Composer agrees to hold Producer and its successors and assigns, harmless from and against any
claim, demand, damage, liability, obligation, action or cause of action arising out of any breach or
failure of any of Composer’s warranties, representations, agreements, or covenants herein
contained.
