Foster [email protected] OFFICE: HLC130 TELEPHONE: 580.477.7910 TEXT: Trigonometry, 9th Edition, Lial, Hornsby, and Schneider, Pearson and Addison Wesley Publishing Company, 2009 COURSE OBJECTIVES: 1. Recognize and use trigonometric functions to solve problems involving right triangles. 2. Recognize and use radian measure and the circular functions. 3. Graph trigonometric functions. 4. Verify and apply trigonometric identities. 5. Recognize and use inverse circular functions. 6. Solve trigonometric equations. 7. Use the laws of sine and cosine to solve problem situations involving oblique triangles. INSTRUCTIONAL METHODS: Class time is spent discussing the lesson, asking questions, and testing. EVALUATION: The grading system is based on points that are cumulative. There is a test after each chapter. There is also a comprehensive final examination. A makeup test must be scheduled within one week of the chapter test; otherwise a zero is recorded. A visual project will use trigonometric properties in the solutions and is evaluated. Homework is assigned and is scored on correct attempt and completion. (90% -- A 80% -- B 70% -- C 60% -- D) ATTENDANCE: Class attendance is expected. Attendance is reported to the Financial Aid Office.
