Musical: The Fantasticks 2008 – 2009 Season January 23 & 24 Theater Company performance of “The Katrina Project” (tentative) Spring Musical To Be Announced WAHS DECA Accomplishments 2008 District: Three Marketing Education students won top honors at the district level (regional) leadership conference – earning a trip to State Competition. State: Western had two students score in the top 20% each earning a Certificate of Merit. CAD classes received National Certification WAHS Academic Competition Accomplishments 2007 - 08 ACE TEAM: Jefferson District Regular Season Champions, Region II Champions, and 6th place in the State Tournament. Destination Imagination: 2 DI Teams. – One of the teams placed 1st in their challenge at the regional level. The remaining team placed 2nd in their challenge at the regional level. – The regional winner placed 1st at the State and moved to Globals; placed 28th in Global Competition. We reduced the total number of classroom Standard/Practical Discipline Referrals by 16% Using AYP measurable objectives and county guidelines to evaluate individual tests, WAHS IEP students went from passing 5/11 in 2007 to passing 10/11 in 2008. 2004-8 SOL Advanced Pass Rates Highest % Ever In Reading, Writing, Alg. WAHS met all state and federal achievement benchmarks for at least two consecutive years. The Virginia Index of Performance (VIP Award) also recognizes achievement in enrollment in collegelevel classes, attainment of advanced diplomas, career and industry certifications, and the nutrition and physical activity scorecard.
