FTR Application Configuration III. FTR APPLICATION CONFIGURATION This section details the required settings for the FTR Application of the Midwest ISO Market Portal. Java Runtime Environment Installation and Configuration Overview One of the Applications available to the user on the Midwest ISO Market Portal is the FTR Application. This application requires the use of a Java Runtime Environment (JRE) to be installed on the user’s PC. This section describes the necessary setup and configuration steps required to setup the JRE and to use the FTR application through the Midwest ISO Market Portal. While all users will have Internet Explorer on their computers, it is likely that you may not have the correct version of JRE installed and configured. Midwest ISO recommends JRE 1.5 for the FTR system. Once the recommended version of the JRE is installed the client computer (i.e. Market Participant’s PC) will be able to download the applet automatically every time the user accesses it on the FTR system web pages. A. Download the Java Runtime Environment (JRE) The installation and configuration of the Java Runtime Environment (JRE) assumes that the user has administrative rights to install the software on the personal computer. No additional special administrative privileges are necessary after installation. The recommended JRE version can be downloaded directly from the SUN website: http://java.sun.com/javase/downloads/index_jdk5.jsp. Please refer to the instructions on the Sun website to download and install the Java Runtime Environment (JRE). B. Verifying JRE Configuration After the JRE Installation is completed, please follow the steps below to verify the installation and configuration of the Java Runtime Environment. 15 III.
