GHG Mitigation Introduction 2011 Broward Municipal Green Initiatives Survey Results Broward County’s Energy & Sustainability Program reached out to our 31 municipalities in 2011 to gather information on the scope and diversity of energy efficiency initiatives and sustainability programs implemented throughout our community. We found an amazing range of programs being implemented, through various departments and staffing possibilities, by local governments both large and small. Survey results are available at Broward.org/GoGreen under Municipalities. For more information, call the Broward County Energy and Sustainability Program at 954-519-1287. Results illuminate general trends in program direction, priorities, and funding, but also highlight success stories and identify best management practices. By sharing the survey results, and through the an online clearinghouse and series of face-to-face collaborative workshops, we hope to: o Produce information that is useful to the participating municipalities and Broward community o Create a platform for cooperatively advancing energy efficiency and sustainability programs o Capture, celebrate and share our collective achievements 2/3 20% 71% of Broward’s reporting municipalities have implemented incentives or programs to Landscaping Ordinances and Codes increase the urban forest. have completed a Greenhouse Gas Inventory of their own government/internal operations.
