Position of the course
Knowledge of anatomy, histology and physiology of different systems of the human
body. It is important to understand interaction between different systems. Knowledge of
basic sciences, cytology and histology are needed to understand human physiology.
This course is needed for general and specific pathology and related revalidation and
rehabilitation processes.
Contents
1. Knowledge and understanding of the anatomy of the heart and blood vessels
(including lymphatic system), respiratory, digestive, excretory, endocrine system, and
reproductive system.
2. Knowledge and understanding of the histology and physiology of the cardiovascular
system (heart, blood vessels, lymph vessels, blood)
3. Knowledge and understanding of the histology and physiology of the respiratory
system.
4. Knowledge and understanding of the histology and physiology of the digestive
system
5. Knowledge and understanding of the histology and physiology of the excretory
system
6. Knowledge and understanding of the histology and physiology of the endocrine
system.
7. Knowledge and understanding of the histology and physiology of the reproductive
system.

Calculation of the examination mark
The exam contains 4 parts:
(a) multiple choice anatomy (/20) taking into account the standard setting (weigth: 20%)
(b) Physiology (80%):
This part is subdivided in three:
(1) multiple choice (/20) taking into account the standard setting
(2) two sub-questions (each at 10, total 20)
(3) open question (/ 20)
The overall score is a mathematical sum of the scores, unless a score of less than 8/20
is obtained for anatomy or one of the three parts in physiology. In that case the highest
possible score is 9/20.
