o Fourth-year optometry students who have attained a high level of academic

Award given to the outstanding third year optometry clinician who
demonstrates excellence in the primary optometric care of young children
from birth to 6 years of age. The clinician will have demonstrated excellence in
patient and parent management, efficient assessment and diagnosis of vision
disorders in children, effective coordination of care, treatment and
management.
2009 California Optometric Laboratories Association Scholarship
o Presented to a third year student who has excelled in the field of Ophthalmic
Optics as determined by the faculty of the UC Berkeley School of Optometry
2008 and 2009 Drs. Bernhardt N. and Lawrence S. Thal Professional Student Support Fund
o Given to students who demonstrate academic distinction, are children or
grandchildren of optometrists, and show commitment to independent practice.
2007-2010: Beta Sigma Kappa (BSK) member.
o Beta Sigma Kappa is an international Optometric honor society. Its mission is
to promote academic excellence. Members are required to tutor fellow
classmates for 2 hours per semester. Eligibility includes grade point average
requirement.
