Blood Drop Size STEPHANIE RODRIGUEZ , SOTERA RAMIREZ A bloodstain pattern is caused by a low velocity impact/force to a blood source. blood droplet that looks like this may have been caused by a blunt object and is called a projected bloodstain. blood stain that falls directly to the ground as seen in selfinflicted wound, accidental wounds and stabbings is called a passive blood stain. The higher the blood is dropped from, the bigger the spatter it will create is correct. Since there is more time due to the greater height there is more impact from gravity pulling the drop down which makes the drop gather more speed so it hits the surface with more force.
