Abstract:
In our Home of Mathematical Genomics (www.isical.ac.in/~hmg/) we started working with Human Olfactory Receptors (OR). In my presentation talk I will start
with our OR model. Then, described below are proposed methods for the classification of a group of related proteins into subgroups based on their
structures. This finer classification will help to develop hypothesis concerning the functions of the proteins. Similarly, analysis of their gene sequences would help
to track the path of their evolution.
CLASSIFICATION OF PROTEINS
Methodology 1: Classification of n-variable Boolean Function and their Application
A. Classification of Boolean functions
B. Application of Boolean functions of each class to bring out similarities and dissimilarities between the proteins under study
Methodology 2: Generating Indicator Matrix and Its Quantification of Amino Acid Sequence
Methodology 3: Finding Similarities and Dissimilarities between Three Dimensional Structures of Two Proteins Using Mathematical Morphology

Academic Qualifications: Ph.D (Tech) Degree in Computer Science from the University of Calcutta, India in April 1990.
Title of thesis and Specific Area: “A study on the design of Self-diagnosable systems”. A new diagnostic logic graph (D L graph) introduced for the better understanding of all
self-diagnosable system models. Also a number of new transparent results leading to the necessary and sufficient conditions for a system to be diagnosable were found out with
various B.Tech in Radio Physics and Electronics: Degree with first class in 1978 from the Institute of Radio physics and Electronics, University of Calcutta.
Three year post graduate course.
