Marcia Espinola DVM, MS, CBSP
Biosafety Officer, Director Biosafety Office
Dr. Marcia Espinola joined the University of Cincinnati in July of 2008 as the Biological Safety Officer and
Director of the Biosafety Office. Dr. Espinola is originally from Brazil where she earned a Doctorate in
Veterinary Medicine and a Master’s Degree in Microbiology. She spent several years working in
molecular microbiology research at Washington University in St. Louis and St. Louis University before
entering the Biosafety Fellowship at the Midwest Regional Center of Excellence for Biodefense and
Emerging Infectious Disease Research (MRCE) at Washington University. Dr. Espinola’s special interest is
preparation and delivery of educational materials which, she believes, is the basis of any successful
safety program
