(Taiwan) Week 7, 2014(2/9-2/15) Suspected Clusters In regard to disease clusters, 10 outbreak events were reported, including 3 upper respiratory tract infection clusters, 3 diarrhea clusters, 2 influenza-like illness clusters, 1 measles cluster and 1 varicella cluster. Imported Infectious Diseases 12 confirmed infectious cases were imported from 6 countries during week 7 of 2014. A total of 79 infectious cases were imported from 13 countries in 2014. Top 3 imported diseases:Dengue fever (24), Amoebiasis (14), Shigellosis (14). Top 3 countries responsible for most imported cases:Indonesia (36), Philippines (10), Malaysia (8). Summary of This Week Influenza : The influenza epidemic has reached its peak. In addition, the ER consultation rate for influenza-like illness has decreased. Currently, H3N2 is the dominant strain circulating in the community, followed by H1N1 and type B, both of which have become more active. As schools have been reopening, health education concerning cough etiquette and hand hygiene should be strengthened to prevent possible outbreaks. 2
