Task
Produce a PowerPoint presentation showing the location of the major muscles in
the human body:
The Muscular System
1. Using two blank images of the human body showing the muscular system,
clearly label all the muscles listed below. The images must not have existing
labels and should show the posterior (back) and anterior (front) views of the
body.
Muscles to be labelled.
1. Biceps
2. Triceps
3. Pectoralis major
4. Rectus abdominis
5. Rectus femoris
6. Vastus lateralis
7. Vastus medialis
8. Vastus intermedius
9. Semimembranosus
10. Semitendinosus
11. Gleuteus Maximus
12. Biceps femoris
13. Gastrocnemius
14. Soleus
15. Tibialis anterior
16. Erector spinae
17. Teres major
18. Trapezius
19. Latissimus dorsi
20. Obliques
21. Deltoids
22. Illopsoas
Make sure every muscle above is included – some are ‘deep’ muscles located under
other muscles, make sure this is stated.
Each muscle needs only be shown once so select which view (posterior or anterior)
is most suitable.
2. On separate slides, for each of the 22 muscles listed above, describe their main
function in relation to movement. Some muscles work together so have the same
function. Include a clear sporting example and use technical terms.
For example: The function of the rectus femoris, vastus lateralis , vastus medialis and
vastus intermedius is to extend the knee joint. For example as a footballer strikes a
shot on goal, there is extension at the knee produced by the rectus femoris, vastus
lateralis , vastus medialis and vastus intermedius.
To be completed by the end of September 2015
ICT SKILLS ARE VITAL IN BTEC COURSEWORK, BECAUSE IF THERE ARE ANY
MISTAKES OR OMISSIONS, IT HAS TO BE RE-DRAFTED, A MUCH EASIER
TASK IF WORK IS ELECTRONIC.
