Plans for Monday, February 09, 2015 By: Cheryl Casey Mathematics, Grade 7 PAP Learning Standards: [Integrated] write and solve equations using geometry concepts, including the sum of the angles in a triangle, and angle relationships.[7.11C] [Integrated] generalize that the ratio of corresponding sides of similar shapes are proportional, including a shape and its dilation.[8.3A] Procedures: Mini-lesson: Students will continue using angle relationships such as supplementary, complementary, adjacent, vertical to solve for angle measurements and to solve for the variable. Work time (Student Task): Students will work through guided practice and independently on: HW: Angle Relationships, due Tuesday Plans for Tuesday, February 10, 2015 By: Cheryl Casey Mathematics, Grade 7 PAP Learning Standards: [Integrated] write and solve equations using geometry concepts, including the sum of the angles in a triangle, and angle relationships.[7.11C] [Integrated] generalize that the ratio of corresponding sides of similar shapes are proportional, including a shape and its dilation.[8.3A] [Integrated] use similar right triangles to develop an understanding that slope, m, given as the rate comparing the change in y-values to the change in x-values, (y₂ - y₁)/ (x₂ - x₁), is the same for any two points (x₁, y₁) and (x₂, y₂) on the same line.[8.4A] [Integrated] use informal arguments to establish facts about the angle sum and exterior angle of triangles, the angles created when parallel lines are cut by a transversal, and the angle-angle criterion for similarity of triangles.[8.8D] Procedures: Opening: Students will review their HW on Angle Relationships. Procedures: Mini-lesson: Students will continue using angle relationships to solve for angle measurements and to solve for the variable. Angle Relationships from parallel lines cut by a transversal, exterior angles, interior angles Work time (Student Task): Students will work through guided practice and independently on: HW: More Angle Relationships, due Wednesday Plans for Wednesday, February 11, 2015 By: Cheryl Casey Mathematics, Grade 7 PAP Learning Standards: [Integrated] write and solve equations using geometry concepts, including the sum of the angles in a triangle, and angle relationships.[7.11C] [Integrated] generalize that the ratio of corresponding sides of similar shapes are proportional, including a shape and its dilation.[8.3A] [Integrated] use similar right triangles to develop an understanding that slope, m, given as the rate comparing the change in y-values to the change in x-values, (y₂ - y₁)/ (x₂ - x₁), is the same for any two points (x₁, y₁) and (x₂, y₂) on the same line.[8.4A] [Integrated] use informal arguments to establish facts about the angle sum and exterior angle of triangles, the angles created when parallel lines are cut by a transversal, and the angle-angle criterion for similarity of triangles.[8.8D] [Integrated] determine the circumference and area of circles.[7.9B] [Integrated] determine the area of composite figures containing combinations of rectangles, squares, parallelograms, trapezoids, triangles, semicircles, and quarter circles.[7.9C] [Integrated] use models to determine the approximate formulas for the circumference and area of a circle and connect the models to the actual formulas.[7.8C] Procedures: Opening: Students will review their HW on More Angle Relationships. Procedures: Mini-lesson: Students will review their understanding of: Angle relationships: Parallel lines cut by a transversal, interior/exterior, supplementary, complementary, vertical, adjacent Area and perimeter of: Triangles, quadrilaterals, circles, and composite figures.
