Italy. Italy the liberated by allies.
III. Normandy Invasion, June 6, 1944,
Allied offensive toward Germany.
Liberate France.
IV. Battle of the Bulge, Dec 1944,
German offensive stopped by Allies.
Germany surrenders.


Battle of Midway, turning point, Allies
defeat Japanese.
Allies begin “island hopping” strategy,
liberating each Pacific island from
Japan.
 War in the Pacific, continued.
III. Hiroshima, Aug 6, 1945, atomic bomb
dropped on city. Second atomic bomb
dropped on Nagasaki. Japan
surrenders.


IX. Six million Jews murdered by Hitler.
X. 55 million people perished---most
destructive war in history.
