PRGT8442 Ground thawing heater—Preliminary Data Sheet
Specifications and technical data subject to change during prototype/production transition.
In North America, the PRGT series is available exclusively through Hole-In-One Enterprises.
Highlights:
 Prestyl’s 2200 Watt PRGT series offers an easy to maintain, low-cost alternative to bulky gas-fired ground thawing systems.
 Self-contained; it requires only a 240 Volt - 15 Amp, or 120 Volt - 20 Amp electrical connection, no other components are needed.
 Two integrated 1100 Watt PR4242 heaters; the heaters can be removed using simple tools should the system require servicing.
 External status light shows that the unit is active.
 The PRGT series utilizes a safe, water-tight NEMA L6-15, or L5-20 power connector (a male connector is attached to the housing).
 Removable, dual ground skirt to minimize drafts and help optimize the system’s performance (optional sizes available).
 Wind-resistant design (angled sides); in areas with extreme winds, it may be “staked down” by nailing stakes through the attached skirt.
 Well-insulated, vacuum formed dual-shell housing with removable, screened vents, built-in strengtheners and optional “nesting supports”.
 Cross-flow venting to purge moisture associated with the thawing process; one vent on either end.
 Outside dimensions: 113” X 69.4” X 21”
 The PRGT series comes in white, lightly textured, UV protected PC/ABS thermal plastic material.
 The operating temperature range is -76 to + 248 degrees Fahrenheit (-60 to +120 degrees C).
 May be inverted to slide through soft snow or over smooth ice; not designed to withstand rock, tree, or blunt item impacts.
 Works best with top snow removed (the presence of top-snow could delay the thawing process significantly as the snow would turn to water
and water takes time to evaporate).
Options:
 A voltage specific power cable may be obtained locally or may be purchased with unit (specify length and minimum operating temperature)
 Customization and optional 120 Volt circuit for alarms, measuring, sump pumps, etc. are available (subject to additional cost).
 With the vents removed, multiple units may be stacked for transport, minimizing transport costs (the heaters do not need to be removed);
optional nesting supports (shown below) are designed to protect the heaters during stacking for storage, or during transport.
 Optional vent-opening reducing baffles for windy areas; If there is excessive wind, this could result in too much cross-flow. Unnecessary crossflow could reduce the system’s efficiency (the wind could remove some of the systems' thawing energy).

Weight (Estimated): 220 lbs. (100 kg) Preliminary weight subject to change.
Skirts dimensions: Outside 12”; inside 6” (skirt overlaps at ends)
Optional skirt dimensions: For uneven ground skirts may be ordered at any practical size (additional cost)
Heater dimensions: 41.5” X 41.5” X 1.2” (two units installed)
Environmental
Operating temperature range: -58 to +275 degrees F (-50 to +135 degrees C)
Storage temperature range: -76 to + 275 degrees F (-60 to +275 degrees C)
Relative humidity: 90%
Heating panel temperature: 200 degrees Fahrenheit (93 degrees C)
UV protection level: UV protection “Medium”; life expectancy of housing in direct sun, minimum 5 years
Safety
Certifications: Heating panels ETL USA and ETL Canada (optional GS, CE, KEMA, NF, International CB). Other electrical
components CSA, ULus/ULc, ETLus and ETLc
Ingress protection: Housing IP 66; connectors IP 67
Other safety information: Use care at extremely low temperatures; dropping or bumping may crack the housing Caution,
select a power cord that is capable of supporting the system’s current over the required distance.
Be sure the power cord is rated for cold temperatures (improper cords may crack and expose live wires.
Must use Ground Fault protection (see specifications below)
Electrical specifications
Operating Voltage: 240 Volts 50/60 Hz (208 and 277 Volts special order), protected by a 30 mA Class-B ELCI (Equipment
Leakage Circuit Interrupter) Preliminary; actual size to be determined by lab test
Power consumption: 2200 Watts when at operating temperature
Current at cold start: 10 Amps (12 Amps 208 Volt option; 8.8 Amps 277 Volt option)
Operating current: 9.3 Amps (10.7 Amps 208 Volt option; 8 Amps 277 Volt option)
Specifications Aux: Optional 120 Volt internal outlet for alarms/pumps (requires options below)
Electrical connections: P-67 Water-tight 240 Volt (optional 208 Volt) Male L6-15 NEMA chassis-mounted twist-lock plug
(requires IP-67 entry cable with water-tight L6-15 female receptacle).
Optional externally accessible 30 mA Class-B ELCI (Equipment Leakage Circuit Interrupter)
