January 2001 – Present: Forensic Chemist, Senior Forensic Chemist
1. Receive and analyze controlled substances, dangerous drugs, and
toxicological (urine or blood) samples. Provide expert testimony in court
concerning analytical results.
2. Assist in developing analytical methods for new drugs and toxic compounds.
Improve existing methods to increase recoveries and lower detection limits.
3. Provide training to Police Cadets, Police Officers, and District Attorneys in
alcohol and drug impairment, impairment detection, and physiology,
pharmacology, and toxicology of alcohol and drugs.
4. Supervise the Breath Alcohol Testing Program. Testify in courts concerning
breath test instrumentation, scientific theory of alcohol testing, alcohol
impairment, and extrapolation of analytical results. Provide Annual Renewal
training to Breath Alcohol Testing operators. Maintain Breath Alcohol
Testing instrumentation.
5. Assist Trace Evidence/Fire Debris with technical reviews of casework. Assist
Firearms Section with technical reviews of IBIS (Integrated Ballistic
Identification System) casework.

method development for manual and robotic extraction techniques. Suggest

poisons, or other toxic substances. Provide expert testimony regarding
analyses performed and scientific interpretation of the results.
