Real Time Operating System Engineering for Neurotechnology Thursday 24 March y WYSS Center for Bio and Neuroengineering Campus Biotech, Geneva Switzerland The Wyss Center for Bio and Neuroengineering (http://wysscenter.ch), a cutting edge research and translation center for neurotechnology, is seeking a real time Operating System Engineer to join a team of scientists, clinicians and engineers who are developing advanced neurotechnology for human applications. The individual will work both independently and collaboratively in a team to facilitate the development of flexible operating systems, employing advanced computer architectures, to process multichannel signals and create control signals for human medical devices used to evaluate or restore lost nervous system function. The resulting advanced microprocessor systems will enable read out of neural activity in various forms to generate dynamically-controlled spatiotemporal activity patterns that provide closed loop operation for a range of devices. The position requires: 1.) the ability to independently create software able to process complex signals and control video or other devices in real time, closed loop systems 2.) a strong background in both communications theory and/or signal processing and in appropriate programming languages (MATLAB, python, C/C++, Simulink). 3.) the ability to develop real time operating systems and validate them. 4. Understanding of real time hardware necessary for reliable, effective system operations. Job Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: – Research, design, develop and verify software for systems that can achieve real time signal processing, display and control; define, develop and implement real time operation of system that can generate command signals from multichannel input. – Develop system requirements, analysis, system architectures, and integrate new signal processing and control technology systems. – Design, develop, implement and analyze systems for the extraction of information from multiple channel signal sensors for both continuous and time series data. The ideal candidate would be flexible and open to providing technical solutions for multiple neurotechnology applications in a cutting edge, multidisciplinary project- based environment. The candidate must also be able to work independently to identify innovative approaches to real time operating systems suitable for human neurotechnology applications. Basic Qualifications: – Basic qualifications are a masters or PhD Degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline with at least 3 years of experience in real time OS, – Ability to apply signal and imaging processing principles, theories, and concepts in software – Experience in signal processing design and/or development; implementing the design in software and hardware – Advanced Programming experience for real time OS – In depth experience with UNIX development environments Preferred Qualifications: – Strong verbal/written communication skills, along with the ability to work well within a team environment. – Basic understanding of neuroscience, or strong interest in gaining a basic understanding of this field and the application of real time OS in neural signal processing and control applications To apply, send a letter describing your qualifications and a C.V. to: [email protected] with the subject line; Real Time Operating System Engineering for Neurotechnology Applications received by May 1, 2016 will receive full consideration. Women and members of underrepresented groups are encouraged to apply.
