Fact checking two
Answer key
Brest-Bretagne airport is the closest French international airport to Boston Logan. Its airport code is Bes.
Passengers from Boston cannot fly their directly and must connect via New York. The airport is located
in the province of Finistere, which gives its name to the shipping area used for the shipping forecast on
BBC radio in Britain. Finistere takes its name from the French words meaning “end of the earth” and the
region is a peninsular jutting out of the coast into the north Atlantic. The region of which Finistere is
part, Brittany, hosts a cycling team, Bretagne-Séché which competed on the UCI European tour.
Brittany is one of two French regions where a language other than French is recognized by the
government in Paris. The other region is Corsica, where recent efforts to revive its native language,
Corse, have been partially successful.
Brest Bretagne Airport is the closest international airport in mainland France to Boston’s Logan
International Airport. Its International Air Transport Association airport code is BES. Passengers from
Boston cannot fly there directly and the most direct route connects via Paris. The airport is located in
the department of Finistere, which should not be confused with the Spanish Cape Finisterre, which until
recently gave its name to the BBC Radio shipping forecast area now known as FitzRoy. Finistere takes its
name from the Latin words meaning “end of the earth,” and the region is a peninsula jutting into the
North Atlantic. The region of which Finistere is part, Brittany, has a cycling team, Bretagne-Séché
Environnement which competes on the International Cycling Union’s Europe Tour. Despite local
attempts to revive Breton, the indigenous language, the French government does not support Breton,
unlike Corsican, where recent efforts to revive the language in Corsica have been partially supported by
the central government.
Rewritten and tidied up a bit, and now ready for some real editing:
