Attended by representatives from academia, the VA, CDC, industry, and a national patient advocacy group. The meeting specifically discussed the emerging problem of C. difficile virulence and community acquired C. difficile infection. The meeting also reviewed best practice-based medicine and discussed the merits of establishing a national disease based research network using CTSA resources and the development of web and media based presence for the community and medical field. From the discussions several action items were identified; Responsibilities included identifying and inviting speakers, fundraising, approving facilities, menus, travel, and managing operational details during the conference and final budget. 2012-2012 Organizer for the Institute of Human Infections & Immunity 2nd Annual Research Retreat.
