WHAT CAUSES WEATHER??
• Unequal heating of the atmosphere
• General principles behind weather state:
 Sun heats earth’s surface more in some places rather than in others
 Where it is warm, solar energy warms the air close to the ground
 Warm air is less dense so air rises, if this happens more air flows to take
up space
 Rising air cools as it goes up in the atmosphere
 If moist, water vapor may condense
 Clouds and precipitation will fall
