explain that ancient history in Greece is one of its
big tourist attractions. Order ancient Greece

states.
Look at map of Ancient Greece. Explain that each
state had its own system of government. Play the
government game (set out in LCP). Recap – how was
Greece organised? How was the Athenian democracy
different from ours today?

To find out about
Greek warfare
Explain that the Greek states often fought wars
against each other to gain land and take corn, goats
and slaves. Each state had an army to defend it made
up of trained residents. The best Greek soldiers
were Hoplites – show in flipbook. Complete Hoplite
labelling activity. What is a trireme? Why was it
important for a Greek city state to have a navy?

To investigate Greek
gods and goddesses.
The ancient Greeks believed in many gods but there
were 12 gods that were very important. These gods
were all part of 1 family who lived at the top of
Mount Olympus. Complete evidence of the gods then
choose a god with a partner to investigate more
information about – record together.

fond of myths and they wrote many about different
