Portland Technology Development Sep 96 – Feb 08 PTD (Portland Technology Development) is the leading research and development organization within Intel. The organization has over 2000 PhDs. It is responsible for delivering the next generation IC manufacturing technology. From September 1996 to 2008, I was a member of the Automation department, and led several key R&D programs. Automation is tasked with delivering the next generation IT and automation systems for the IC factory. This includes automated material handling and data automation. My responsibilities have grown over the years. Here is a summary: • Program Lead for Next Generation 45 nm Factory Automation Sep 2004-Mar 2007 • Directed the development of next generation for latest 45 nm IT and automation technologies. • 45 nm automation targets included: • New software development framework for a unified user interface and a framework for developing engineering analysis applications. • Implementation of hardware worth tens of millions of dollars in robotic equipment along with hundreds of clients and servers for factory automation. • Lead for Engineering Systems Development Sep 2000-Sep 2004 • Directed three first level managers and four staff engineers. The total group size varied between twenty and forty senior software engineers. • The group delivered software solutions to enable analysis and control of the manufacturing process. This included analytical and visualization systems for statistical analysis, feedback control, feed-forward control, excursion detection, and pattern recognition. • Lead for station controller software developers Feb 98 – Sep 2000 Station controllers are the software packages that interface with IC equipment, such as Lithography, Etch, Diffusion and Metrology tools. • Directed and supervised a group of fifteen senior software engineers in PTD-Automation, including budget, plan, finance, training, integration and assimilation plans • Directed software solutions for three technology generations: 18 micron, 13 micron, and the first 200 mm wafer fab. • Influenced Virtual Factory and drove Upper Management buy off on strategic Migration plans from Unix to NT station controllers. • Directed the group’s delivery of critical projects (clients, servers and DB applications) for the 18 micron process technology. These were implemented on different platforms (UNIX and NT), using several programming languages (C, C++, Perl and Java). • Senior Software Engineer Sep 96 – Feb 98 • Owned the development of Lithography Link (Track and Stepper) station controller, taking the project through requirement collection, development, testing and implementation in the factory. Staff Scientist – Computer Vision R&D Innovision Corporation. Madison; Wisconsin-USA Mar 94 – Aug 96 • Researched latest imaging techniques with applications to computer vision problems. • Developed user friendly software for Imaging and Development Application Systems (IDAS). • Used high resolution area-scan and line-scan cameras to solve problems in pattern recognition and product inspection for color and black and white imaging environments. • Provided customer support for on-site vision systems. • Represented the company in industrial shows for machine vision in industry. • Installed LAN network. Lecturer University of Wisconsin Madison; Wisconsin-USA Sep 89- May 93 Was the instructor of record for non-major classes taken by junior/senior students, which included giving lectures, holding office hours, preparing exams and evaluated an average of fifty students per semester. I turned an unpopular required class to one of the most popular classes, which led the students to vote me “Best Instructor in Engineering!” Won 7 teaching awards from 1989 to 1993: University Teaching Assistant Mentor Award, UW-Madison 1992-1993, University Excellence in Teaching Award, UW-Madison 1992, Department Excellence in Teaching Award, UW-Madison 1992, Department Teaching Assistant Fellow, UW-Madison 1992, Polygon Outstanding Teaching Award, UW-Madison 1992, Polygon Outstanding Teaching Award, UW-Madison 1991 Most prestigious award: University Excellence in Teaching Award, UW-Madison 1992.
