North American Plate
 Yellowstone
is located on the
North American plate
 This plate is located between
Wyoming and Montana
Explanation of Tectonics
 The Yellowstone
Plateau Volcanic
Field was formed due to the plate
tectonic movements over the past
years
Geologic History

The has always been a lot of volcanic
history in Yellowstone
 The Washburn Range is part of the
Absaroka volcanic field
 Lava flows formed the boundaries of the
lakes
 The lava flow recorded is in the era of
500,000 and 100,000 years ago
Recent History
 It
is recorded that Old Faithful
erupts every 30 to 78 minutes
 There has not been hardly any
activity recently except for
earthquakes
The Great Impact

When the super volcano that lies within
Yellowstone erupts, there will be huge areas
of North America that will be destroyed
 It is even possible for the ash to block the
sun, which would cause temperatures to
drop.
What to do
 The
majority of the people who
live near Yellowstone realize that
there is not much they can do
 It is going to be a natural disaster,
and you can not control natural
disasters
