Read and Take Notes (RTN)
Listed first is the outline to help you take notes from your book. Your book is
hard to read because it is a college textbook. It will take practice to get used to it
KISS= Keep It Simple Stupid. You are doing notes so keep it short and simple
but specific enough that you can understand what you wrote down when you
come back to it later
Take notes on I8-I16. This is the attempt by the author to introduce how to read
the book
Take notes on Chapter 1. Read the title of the chapter. Go ahead, do it, I’ll
wait…Yeah, it’s incredibly boring. I know that. I like this chapter because I get
to see if you really want to take this class.
Do the Identification Terms
Read the very short instructions on what to do. When you write the definitions
out make sure it is simple enough so that you can understand what you wrote
down later (KISS).
Big Geography and Peopling of the Earth
#1 These are the learning targets. Do them. Each target starts with an action
word. If you don’t know what the word really means, look it up before you
attempt to answer it.

Everything you do in the class about doing a good job, not just getting it done.
This isn’t TCUSH, where you maybe were able to just get your homework done
and that was okay. You are going to have to work hard and do your work well. I
want this assignment to be perfect. I want care and love to have been put into
this. If you choose to not put that kind of passion into it, start thinking about
whether you want to really take the class. I want your best all the time.
