I will speak about my connection to George Gershwin thru his rehearsal pianist from
the 1930s , my friend the late Al Simon, uncle of Carly Simon.
In May I am scheduled for the
“FROM HOLLYWOOD TO BROADWAY” CONCERT
Marvin had arranged for (among others)
“Tara’s Theme” from Gone With The Wind”
“My Fair Lady” Medley
“Marvin at the Movies” medley of Marvin’s scores
“A Chorus Line” Medley
“Phantom of the Opera”
I can speak of working with Nicole Kidman , Steve Martin, my Julie Andrews stealing
my spoon story….
Other programs could be
BROADWAY CLASSICS evening
Featuring the standards from Broadway classics such as
42nd Street
Oklahoma
Annie
Carousel
Hello Dolly!
West Side Story
This could be with singers, boy and girl, or just me at the piano.
DISNEY’S VILLAINS
An evening of songs of the villains from the many Disney movie musicals.
My friend Jonathan Freeman currently appearing on Broadway in “Mary Poppins” is
also the voice of Jafar from “Aladdin” and could bring along other friends from his
villain society.

Rodgers and Alice Hammerstein who could provide personal stories interspersed
with orchestral medleys from “Oklahoma”, “Carousel”, “The Sound of Music” among
others.

“THE MUSICALS OF ANDREW LLOYD WEBBER”
featuring orchestral arrangements of
The Phantom of the Opera
Jesus Christ Superstar
Evita
Cats (which I conducted)
Starlight Express(which I did)
Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.
With singers to sing some of the great roles.
While I would rather do an evening of Sondheim, ALW has many, many fans.
“THE MUSIC OF SONDHEIM”
may be overdone since his 80th birthday a few years ago.
“AN EVENING OF LEONARD BERNSTEIN”
on the occasion of his 90th birthday I was chosen to conduct “On the Town”
at City Centers’s Encore series. His music is challenging to musicians and therefore
makes for a great listening for audiences.
Candide Overture
West Side Story Suite
On the Town –ballets and suite
There are many variations on the Broadway composer “tribute” that are possible,
as well as hundreds of songs and shows that could be featured in a “BROADWAYS
FAVORITES” kind of concert.
Also ideas likeThe Sound of Music Sing-A-Long
With the audience as an active participant.
The Wizard of Oz Sing-A-Long

These are the ones I’m still working on, contacting the artists:
‘THE MUSIC OF MERYL”
Movie music from the films of Meryl Streep and the songs she loves to sing
The first part of the program is dedicated to her movie scores
“Sophies Choice”-Marvin Hamlisch

“The Bridges of Madison County”-Lennie Niehaus
“The French Lieutenants Woman” –Carl Davis
The second part is her singing her favorite songs.
“SYMPHONIC MANILOW”
The songs of Barry Manilow in symphonic setting including a pianist, maybe a young
scholarship or award winning student who can play some of the songs concerto-like.
The second half of the program would be Barry singing his songs with the orchestra.
“KELSEY GOES POPS”
Kelsey Grammar award winning star of “Frasier”, “Cheers” and “Boss” and star of the
recent revival of “La Cage” on Broadway which I conducted, singing his favorite
songs.

Eric Idle, who wrote the Broadway show, “Spamalot,”(and the many songs of Monty
Python including “Always Look on the Bright Side of Life” and “The Lumberjack
Song”) has many songs and jokes up his sleeve. He would bring in an audience
beyond that of a regular symphony-going crowd.
He also has his 5-person “Life of Brian” oratorio that he premiered in 2009 ready to
go.
SARAH JESSICA PARKER
Featuring the music from her many movies, and her TV show “Sex in the City”, and
the second half with her singing her favorite songs.
