TODD ELLISON POPS PROGRAMS As of the Nov.17th concert in York, PA. I will have under my belt“TRIBUTE TO GERSHWIN” CONCERT with pianist Kevin Cole Featuring among other pieces: Porgy and Bess Medley An American in Paris Rhapsody in Blue I will speak about my connection to George Gershwin thru his rehearsal pianist from the 1930s , my friend the late Al Simon, uncle of Carly Simon. In May I am scheduled for the “FROM HOLLYWOOD TO BROADWAY” CONCERT Marvin had arranged for (among others) “Tara’s Theme” from Gone With The Wind” “My Fair Lady” Medley “Marvin at the Movies” medley of Marvin’s scores “A Chorus Line” Medley “Phantom of the Opera” I can speak of working with Nicole Kidman , Steve Martin, my Julie Andrews stealing my spoon story…. Other programs could be BROADWAY CLASSICS evening Featuring the standards from Broadway classics such as 42nd Street Oklahoma Annie Carousel Hello Dolly! West Side Story This could be with singers, boy and girl, or just me at the piano. DISNEY’S VILLAINS An evening of songs of the villains from the many Disney movie musicals. My friend Jonathan Freeman currently appearing on Broadway in “Mary Poppins” is also the voice of Jafar from “Aladdin” and could bring along other friends from his villain society. “AN EVENING WITH RODGERS AND HAMMERSTEIN” featuring the daughters, Mary Rodgers and Alice Hammerstein who could provide personal stories interspersed with orchestral medleys from “Oklahoma”, “Carousel”, “The Sound of Music” among others. The second half of the program would be Barry singing his songs with the orchestra. “KELSEY GOES POPS” Kelsey Grammar award winning star of “Frasier”, “Cheers” and “Boss” and star of the recent revival of “La Cage” on Broadway which I conducted, singing his favorite songs. He LOVES to sing….. “NICOLE KIDMANS MUSIC” Movie music from the films of Nicole Kidman Movie scores such as: “Moulin Rouge” “The Interpreter”- James Newton Howard “The Hours”- Philip Glass “Batman Forever”- Elliot Goldenthal The second part is her singing her favorite songs. She appeared in “Annie” as a kid and in the movie musicals “Nine” and “Moulin Rouge”. “MONTY PYTHON’S ERIC IDLE” Eric Idle, who wrote the Broadway show, “Spamalot,”(and the many songs of Monty Python including “Always Look on the Bright Side of Life” and “The Lumberjack Song”) has many songs and jokes up his sleeve. He would bring in an audience beyond that of a regular symphony-going crowd. He also has his 5-person “Life of Brian” oratorio that he premiered in 2009 ready to go. SARAH JESSICA PARKER Featuring the music from her many movies, and her TV show “Sex in the City”, and the second half with her singing her favorite songs.
