who work with patients with lymphedema/edema/wound issues; attendance DOES NOT require
CDT training.

Instructor: Jill Allen is the Senior Professional Services Advisor for Skin & Wound Care for 3M
Canada. Jill has many years of experience as WOCM/ET working in the community. In 2011, Jill
completed her Masters of Wound Healing at the University of Western Ontario.
Workshop Description: Nurses and other health care professionals are encouraged to attend
this session to enhance their understanding of hands-on bandaging techniques with Coban 2
Layer Compression System, as it applies to their clinical setting. Participants will have the
opportunity to wrap a full leg, arm or other body parts that develop Lymphedema as it applies to
their clinical setting.
Learning Objectives:
Participants will learn hands-on/practical bandaging techniques with the Coban 2 Layer
Compression System.

Included: 2’ x 3’ sheet of ½ “ gray foam of various widths, 2’ x 3’ sheet new channel foam,
bandaging supplies to work with, workshop handouts and certificate.

Instructor: John Mulligan is a Registered Massage Therapist and Certified Lymphedema
Therapist since 1998, and has been certified by the Lymphology Association of North America
since 2001. In addition to his private practice, Mr. Mulligan is the co-founder and Clinical
Specialist at Lymphedema Depot Ltd. and serves on the Education Working Group of the
Canadian Lymphedema Framework. He also publishes articles and presents lectures and case
studies on the subject of lymphedema, and teaches manual lymph drainage and advanced
compression bandaging classes.

• Overview of specialized bandaging materials
• Progressing beyond plateaus
• Preventing bandage slippage
• Avoiding tourniquet effects
• Techniques for softening fibrotic tissue
• Cutting and fitting foam shapes

Intended Audience: Rehabilitation professionals – attendance DOES NOT require CDT training.
Venue: Rependa Auditorium, Saskatoon City Hospital, 701 Queen Street, Saskatoon, SK.
Instructor: Tracy Gardikiotis is a physical therapist for the Regina Qu’Appelle Health Region.
Tracy has completed extensive post graduate training in breast cancer rehabilitation and
lymphedema management including: certified garment fitter for 6 major companies, Certified
Lymphedema Therapist (CDT/MLD) by Klose Training and Consulting, and Certified Cancer
Exercise Specialist by The University of Northern Colorado Rocky Mountain Cancer Institute.
Workshop Description: This workshop will be a basic overview of assessment/management
techniques for lymphedema/edema conditions for rehabilitation professionals.
Learning Objectives:
• Provide a basic overview of lymphedema including definition, staging, pathophysiology and
complications of lymphedema.
• Learn to perform a basic assessment of lymphedema and practice volume assessment skills.
• Provide an overview of lymphedema treatment for all stages of lymphedema including patient
education and risk reduction strategies, Complex Decongestive Therapy, exercise
considerations and referral to multidisciplinary team members.
• Learn basic compression therapy management including compression principles, indications
and contraindications, products, measurement and fitting considerations for early stage
lymphedema and difficult to fit patients, intermittent pneumatic compression and review of
SAIL Compression Garment/Pump policies and ordering process.
• Review lymphedema treatment and support resources in Saskatchewan and Canada
