Kausalanalyse in den Sozialwissenschaften (53101) Dr. Markus Gangl, Wissenschaftszentrum Berlin HU Berlin, Institut für Sozialwissenschaften Wintersemester 2003/04 DO 16-18, RAUM: UNI 3, 001 + PC-Pool Zusammenfassung Die Veranstaltung führt in Probleme und Techniken der statistischen Kausalanalyse sozialwissenschaftlicher Daten ein. Dazu sollen gängige Kausalitätskonzepte vorgestellt, und deren Probleme in der statistischen Umsetzung kausaler Untersuchungsdesigns mit Beobachtungsdaten diskutiert werden. Ausgangspunkt dabei ist das Problem kausaler Schlussfolgerungen in der einfachen linearen Regression. In Erweiterung bzw. als Alternative dazu ist vorgesehen, Instrumentalvariablenschätzer, Sampleselektionsmodelle, Panel- und Mehrebenenmodelle sowie nichtparametrische Matchingverfahren einzuführen. Es ist vorgesehen, dass sich die KursteilnehmerInnen die vorgestellten Techniken durch eigenständige Analysen mit dem Programmpaket Stata erarbeiten. Als empirisches Beispiel wird die Frage nach den returns to education dienen, die anhand von Daten des Sozio-ökonomischen Panels geschätzt werden sollen.
