The European Surveillance System (TESSy)
- Surveillance Unit
• Support strengthening of national surveillance systems
• Establish EU-wide standard case reporting
• Monitor trends of diseases across Europe to provide a
rationale for public health actions in MS
• Disseminate the results to stakeholders for timely public
health actions at EU and MS level
• Coordinate the integrated operations of the Dedicated
Surveillance Networks

• 17 dedicated surveillance networks (DSNs):
• Cover 20 diseases (+ 3 not on the list)
