Apr 2003 – present Govt. of Saskatchewan Regina, Saskatchewan GIS Architect As GIS Architect with Information Technology Office of Govt of Saskatchewan, I am responsible for the characterization, normalization and validation of geo-spatial intelligence data. I analyse data, produce and integrate reusable data models, develop Oracle Spatial databases, manage geo-spatial dataset inventory on file servers and in Oracle Spatial databases, and provide technical support and training in areas of GIS related web and database technologies. I also prepare requirements documents, automation plans, security documents, technical papers, and integration and implementation plans for GIS applications as required. I am also a member of Geomatics Technical Advisory Board (TAB) of Govt of Saskatchewan. This board is responsible for defining and implementing provincial standards for geo-spatial data. I lead the development of provincial standard for data categorization and storage. We have published provincial standards for metadata and spatial datum. We are also building a one-stop geo-spatial portal for Saskatchewan. Jul 2002 – Mar 2003 Tourism Saskatchewan Regina, Saskatchewan Programmer Analyst As a Programmer Analyst I was involved in developing a web based tourism information system for the province of Saskatchewan. I designed and architect the data model and GIS components of the system. It was based on ESRI ArcSDE 8.x on SQL Server 2000. The web interface was developed in ASP with integrated Visual Basic 6 COM+ components. Jul 1999 – Jun 2002 Blaze Information Technology Inc. Sudbury, Ontario DBA / Lead Developer As staff DBA at Blaze, I addressed any of the database development and implementation that took place. I was responsible for planning, installation, migration, performance tuning, security, backup, and monitoring of Oracle 8i/9i Database Server and Application Server. For INCO Mines Research, Sudbury, Ontario, I developed an automated tele-mining system. It was comprised of 2 projects named DDIP and MOS. I lead a team of analysts through requirements analysis, preliminary design, and final implementation. We used Rational Rose as our primary tool for requirements gathering and UML modeling, Oracle 8i for data storage and retrieval, AutoCAD for generating intersectional views of the mine, and Visual Basic 6 for the front end. We also used Self Defining Structure (SDS) from Helical Systems, Nova Scotia, for the storage and retrieval of very large (terabytes) of spatial data. I also developed an on-line GIS application for INCO Technical Services using ESRI ArcIMS 3.1, Oracle Spatial 8i with stored procedures and functions, ColdFusion 5, and Java. For the City of Greater Sudbury, Ontario, I designed and implemented a corporate database in Oracle 8i for business development. User connectivity to the database was provided through web-based interface using ColdFusion Server 5, ASP pages, and Java. I was extensively involved in software development using a variety of programming languages including Visual Basic 6, Visual C++ 6, and Java. I am a highly experienced programmer and have developed corporate client/server applications. My other projects include development of ActiveX Components for database connectivity in Visual C++; an e-commerce website for the Town of Walden Industrial Park, Ontario, using MapGuide and ColdFusion with SQL Server 2000 database; and a corporate application in Visual Basic 6 for playing encrypted music and messages on schedule in store and on the phone. Jan 1998 – Jun 1999 University of Regina Regina, Saskatchewan Teaching Assistant I taught Java labs for ENSE471 at the University of Regina. I prepared lab outlines and was responsible for marking labs, midterms, and quizzes for the class. I also taught the first batch of Object Oriented Software Technology (OOST) Program at University of Regina. Over the course of my involvement in this program, I taught modules in Object Oriented Programming, Databases, Operating Systems, and Mathematics.
