Speakers
Dr. Hugo Trevisi
Dr. Trevisi received his dental degree in 1974 at Lins
College of Dentistry in the state of São Paulo, Brazil.
He received his orthodontic training from 1979 to
1983 at that same college. Since that time he has
been involved in the full-time practice of Orthodontics
in Presidente Prudente, Brazil. Dr. Trevisi has lectured
extensively in South America, Central America and
Europe and has developed his own orthodontic
teaching facility in Presidente Prudente.
Dr. Lars Christensen
Dr. Trevisi has over 25 years of experience with
pre-adjusted appliance and has co-developed the
MBT™ Technique. He is a professor at the Specialization
Course in Orthodontics at the Paulista Association of
Dentistry – Presidente Prudente – Brazil, a member
of the Brazilian Society of Orthodontics and the
Brazilian College of Orthodontics.
Dr. Christensen completed his dental qualification
in Copenhagen in 1990, followed by a PhD in 1993.
He continued his education at Guy’s and St. Thomas’s
in London and gained his MSc in 1996, which was
followed by MOrth at the Royal College of Surgeons
in Edinburgh in 1997. Dr. Christensen currently has
a very successful private practice in Oxford, UK. He
has lectured extensively in Europe, USA, Middle East
and Asia.
Dr. Christensen is a member of the British Orthodontic
Society, the European Orthodontic Society, The British

MBT™ treatment philosophy 2010 and beyond
Treatment planning considerations in adult orthodontics
Day 1, 09.00 – 10.30
Day 1, 10.50 – 12.30
This lecture will have some clinical cases regarding MBT ™ treatment philosophy which relate to
diagnosis, planning, goals and results. Low forces will be considered using self-ligating appliance,
plus the advantages and results focusing on patient functional occlusion.
Adult orthodontics is the fastest growing area of orthodontics for many clinicians. Most orthodontists
find that management of adult orthodontic cases require a different skill set to the one used in treatment
of adolescents. In this lecture, Dr. Christensen will highlight the differences in treatment planning and
patient management when treating adult patients. Topics covered will be diagnostic tools, treatment
limitations, expectation management, inter-proximal enamel reduction techniques, appliance maintenance during treatment, treatment mechanics and retention strategies.
The stages of treatment
Day 2, 09.00 – 10.30
In this presentation Dr. Christensen will highlight the stages of treatment as described in the
MBT™ philosophy. Examples of the mechanics in the stages of treatment will be illustrated with
clinical examples with both conventional and self-ligating appliances. The points covered in this
lecture will include archwires for alignment, bite opening mechanics, Class II correctors for
anchorage control, tooth displacement and fixed retainer types.

Wires, slots, and play – how to optimize biomechanic efficiency in the MBT™ system
Orthodontic Implant Site Development: Clinical consideration
Day 1, 13.30 – 15.00
Osseointegrated dental implants have been successfully used for many years in the treatment of partially
edentulous jaw. Short- and long-term prognosis of single tooth implants is now favorable but esthetic
compromises often need to take into account if there is a lack of soft and hard tissue in the implant site.
The aim of this presentation is to discuss the role of 3-dimensional orthodontic tooth movement in generating the proper amount of soft and hard tissue for optimal implant placement. Cases are presented
to discuss indications, advantages and clinical strategies when Orthodontic Implant Site Development
is carried out. Accurate clinical procedures are suggested to enhance the effect of tooth movement in
generating soft and hard tissue and increasing the esthetic outcome.
Through the optimal combination of wire dimension, wire material and slot play, the efficiency of
the appliance can be enhanced. The distinct tasks in the different treatment phases require different
wires to get the maximum out of the appliance system, no matter whether conventionally ligated or
self-ligated brackets are used. Wire sequences will be presented that work effortlessly/comfortably
to solve standard cases as well as to find solutions for special tasks.
No wonders, but wonderfully efficient!
Day 1, 15.20 – 17.00
Clinical strategies for a good finishing with the MBT™ treatment philosophy
Day 2, 10.50 – 12.30
8
MBT ™ treatment philosophy has been widely used throughout the world since 1999. It is versatile, effective,
tried and tested, easy to use and globally recognized. Facial and dental planning, bracket prescription
and specific placement, proper arch form and archwire coordination, light forces, anchorage control
and sliding mechanics are the main MBT ™ characteristics. After 16 years of personal clinical experience,
a variety of clinical cases will be presented and treatment stages will be accurately shown to explain
how the aesthetic and finishing goals were reached.
