PRACTICAL SUMMARY FOR THE MONTH OF FEBURARY
EXERCISE1. ANALYSIS OF BLOOD- Introduction of blood. Perform physical
examination of blood i.e. appearance, colour, odour, specific gravity & reaction.
Perform tests for the presence of blood by Benzidine & O-Toluidine methods.
EXERCISE2. STUDY OF BILE JUICE- Introduction, composition & functions of
bile. Perform physical examination of bile i.e. volume, appearance, colour, odour,
specific gravity & reaction. Perform tests for the presence of bile salts & bile pigments
by Hay’s surface tension & Petten kopfer’s test and Gmellin & Van den Bergh’s test
respectively.
EXERCISE3. PATHOLOGICAL EXAMINATION OF URINE-Introduction &
composition. Perform physical examination of pathological urine i.e. volume,
appearance, colour, odour, specific gravity (measurement of specific gravity of urine
by using urinometer with temperature correction) & reaction. Perform tests for the
presence of proteins, carbohydrate, ketone bodies, bile salts, bile pigments & blood in
pathological urine.
