Year 8 Constructions Exercises
You must show all constructions lines.
1. Construct a perpendicular bisector of the
following two points.
2. Construct the angle bisector of the following
two lines.
3. Construct the angle bisector of the following
two lines.
4. Construct a perpendicular bisector of the
following two points.
5. Construct a triangle with sides of length
3cm, 4cm and 5cm.
6. Using a ruler, protractor and compass,
construct a triangle 𝐴𝐡𝐢 such that
𝐴𝐡 =5cm, 𝐴𝐢 = 6cm and ∠𝐡𝐴𝐢 = 50°
7. Using a ruler, protractor and compass,
construct a triangle 𝐴𝐡𝐢 such that
𝐴𝐢 = 8cm, ∠𝐡𝐴𝐢 = 34° and ∠𝐡𝐢𝐴 = 62°
8. Using only a straight edge and compass,
construct an angle of 60° at the point 𝐴.
9. Similarly construct a 30° angle at the point
𝐴.
10. Similarly construct a 90° angle at the point
𝐴.
11. Similarly construct a 45° angle at the point
𝐴.
12. Construct the from the point 𝐢 to the line
𝐴𝐡.
13. Construct an equilateral triangle 𝐴𝐡𝐢,
where 𝐴𝐡 is the base of the triangle.
14. Construct the perpendicular to the line 𝐴𝐡
at the point 𝐢.
15. Construct a hexagon (of any size) in the
space below.
 Construct an angle of 75° (hint: is this the
sum of other angles you can construct?).
 By first constructing a 90° angle, think how you might be able to then construct a square
(remembering that you’re not allowed to measure any lengths on a ruler).
