Occluded artery (deluxe) The potentially deadly effects of high cholesterol are demonstrated by these two transparent tubes. One tube represents an artery constricted by plaque, which forms on artery walls when there is excess cholesterol in the blood. The other tube represents a healthy artery without any plaque.
