April 30, 2008 Dear Participants: Cancer Care Nova Scotia’s Celebrate Life 2008 will be held on National Cancer Survivors Day, Sunday June 1st at Pier 21 in Halifax. This event is an opportunity to celebrate, remember and build hope for the future. In past years, cancer-related organizations including your’s, have participated in the information fair we held as part of the event. This year, however, we have changed the format of the event and will not be having an information fair. We will be incorporating them into other relevant events over the course of the year. We appreciate your participation in the past and invite you and your members to attend Celebrate Life again this year. In a time when so many of us have been touched by cancer, it is so very important to: • Celebrate cancer patients who are living well with the disease; • Celebrate the dedicated health professionals who provide treatment and care; • Recognize the commitment of cancer researchers, who are working to understand the disease to ultimately improve prevention, early detection, treatment and care; • Celebrate the important role of family and friends in providing support; • Remember and honour those who have died; and • Believe there is hope for the future. As in past years, Celebrate Life is open to all, free of charge. In addition to musical performances by Terry Kelly, Gary Beals, Derek Caine, The Hallelujah Praise Choir and the Amethyst Scottish Dancers; the family-oriented afternoon will include a candle lighting ceremony, refreshments and attractions such as tattoos for children Please share this invitation with your network of colleagues, family and friends and help us celebrate on June 1st. Yours truly Donna M Smith for Emmie Luther - Hiltz
