
The golden apple
The mainly 12 gods

Zeus (宙斯_天神)
He is the king of the gods. His Roman name is Jupiter,
the one of the nine planet. He is so dissolute that he
has many sons or daughters. For example, Persephone
and Apollo.

Hera (希拉_天后)
She is Zeus’s sister and wife. They got married after
Zeus became the king of the gods. She is envious of
Zeus’s dissolution so she always do something bad to
her husband’s mistress and illegitimate children.

Poseidon (波塞頓_海神)
Zeus’s brother, the god of ocean, river, and lake. His
Roman name is Neptune. He has many children, five
twins!

Athena (雅典娜_智慧之神)
Athena is the daughter of Zeus and Metis, the goddess
of smartness. And she is the goddess of wisdom. There
is also someone said that she is the goddess of victory.

Demeter (德莫特_農神)
Zeus’s sister, the goddess of agriculture. Have a
daughter with Zeus, also the Hades’s wife, Persephone.
Some legends said that Demeter is Poseidon’s wife.

Hestia (赫絲緹亞_灶神)
Zeus’s sister, manage the housework of humans. People
move to a new house or have a new colony, they need to
receive the holy fire from the fireplace.

Apollo (阿波羅_太陽神)
He’s the god of brightness or sun. Apollo is the son of
Zeus and Leto. He has a sister, Artemis, the goddess of
moon. He’s the most versatile god of all, also the most
handsome one.

Artemis (雅緹米絲_月亮女神)
The daughter of Zeus and Leto, the sister of Apollo. Is
the goddess of moon. She likes hunting very much and
she’s also good at archery. Because of this, she is also
the goddess of hunt.

Aphrodite (埃佛黛緹_愛與美之神)
The goddess of beauty and love. Her Roman name is Venus.
She’s the daughter of Zeus and Dione. But someone said
that she born from the sea. She got married with the god
of war, Ares, and they have several children like Eros
(Cupid).

Ares (阿瑞斯_戰神)
Is the god of war, also named Mars. The son of Zeus and
Hera, the husband of Aphrodite. He’s the symbolized of
power and authority.

Hephaestus (赫懷斯托斯_火神)
He’s the god of fire, also named Vulcan, is the son of Zeus
and Hera. He’s a blacksmith with high skills and he had
made many things for gods.

Hermes (漢默斯_神使)
The son of Zeus and Maia, also named
Mercury. He has strong strength that he
could subdue an ox when he was just a baby.
The Golden Apple
Peleus and Thetis was married. They invited every god except
Eris, the goddess of discord. Eris was very angry so she throw
a golden apple to the guests, which was carved with “To the
most beautiful goddess.” Athena, Hera, and Aphrodite all
thought that themselves should take the golden apple so they
have an argument. Zeus didn’t want to judge for this so he
made Paris to do it.
The goddesses promised Paris many things to get the golden
apple. Hera promised him the power and wealth. Athena
promised him the honor and prestige. Aphrodite promised
him to give him the most beautiful woman as his wife.
Paris chose the gift from Aphrodite but he became the
enemy to the other two goddesses.
The woman Aphrodite promised to give Paris is Helen, the
queen of the Sparta. Helen fell in loved with Paris and ran
away with him. And this caused the Trojan war.
